Pat Toomey on Social Security

toomey-newshour-tv.jpg Pat Toomey, the Club's new president, was on PBS's "Newshour with Jim Lehrer" last night. On the show, he goes head-to-head with AARP's front man, David Certner. Pat talks about the pro-growth benefits of implementing personal accounts for Social Security. Watch the show: Real | Windows | Quick UPDATE: This email is from one of the Club's members in response to Pat's TV appearance: bq. I am a member of AARP and advised them I did not agree with their position as I did not want my grandchildren to pay for our wasteful ways on Social Security. I also advised that private plans would take away from Congress the ability to spend excess funds as they have since Social Security started. I question how many members agree with AARP. All I got was a form reply which is what I expected. I think AARP is seriously out of step with a significant number of its members. -- Erik Nicolaysen, Club Member since April 2002
