DeMint Strongly Opposed to Wage Cap Increase
What does GOP Senator Jim DeMint think of Senator Lindsey Graham's proposal of hiking payroll taxes as part of Social Security reform? From a Gannett News Service report:...Lindsey Graham is willing to raise taxes to keep the 70-year-old retirement program solvent, something Jim DeMint strongly opposes. DeMint said raising the income ceiling as Graham wants would lead to perhaps the largest tax increase ever. "For me, increasing taxes is really off the page," DeMint said. "Lindsey's showing good leadership. We need people saying, 'I've got a plan, what do you think?' He has helped with the debate. And if people don't like the tax increase, they can start talking to me about how can we do the same thing in a different way."UPDATE: I just found this great quote:
“I don’t know who [Lindsey] Graham hires to advise him on economics,” said Hilton Head’s Tom Nugent, a contributing editor at the online version of the conservative National Review magazine, “but as far as I’m concerned, they should be referred to as Graham Crackers.”
