450 Economists....An Update

I was just in the coffee shop buying some joe this morning when I glanced at today's issues of the Washington Post and the New York Times. You would think that the front page of any major newspaper would be the proper place to highlight the fact that 450 economists have publicly endorsed personal accounts for Social Security. But, unfortunately, when it comes to these two liberal rags, that was not the case. On the front page of the Post, you can read all about how high school students grapple with the trauma associated with taking exams. And on the Times' front page, you can read about an opera conductor's knack for raising money. Both newsworthy stories for sure... But that's not to say we haven't made any progress. As was previously reported on this blog, Larry Kudlow did have Michael Tanner of the Cato Institute on his TV show yesterday afternoon. This was the first time that this story has hit the airwaves. Hat tip to Larry. Big Mo is with us, folks. We have gone from nothing to something in the course of just a week. We've created a small buzz in the blogosphere, we've had an article written about the "Forgotten 450", and we've received some time on TV. But let's not stop. The tailwind is picking up. Talk about it on your blog. Link to other bloggers who are also writing about it. Write an email directly to these newspapers and TV networks (put "450 Economists" in the subject field): Washington Post NY Times LA Times Washington Times Wall Street Journal TV Networks: ABC | CBS | NBC | Fox Let's make this a story. Social Security reform is the biggest domestic fiscal issue since the program was formed over 70 years ago. And now we have the opportunity to shift this huge debate towards a more positive, more pro-growth message. This is about ownership, this is about choice, this is about economic liberty. Let's PUSH, PUSH, PUSH.
